She described how she use to make cakes and still does on occasion for her children, who are grown now, and how much more special her kids thought they were. The biggest thing about it was, they remembered the cakes she made! Not the bought ones, but the ones mom made. I was in aw and thought, I want my kids to remember this when they are grown. That their birthday was so special, that there mom would go through the creative, loving time to make them, because she loves them so much. So I decided I can do it!
From then on I have chosen to make cakes. I have made a camo cake for my dad, boxing trunks for Nathan, princess crown for Lydia, shape of a "2" for Lydia, dirt bike cake for Waylen and tonight just got done with a bridal shower cake. I have a great frosting recipe that I got from Kathy that I work with, it is a-w-e-s-o-m-e! Its takes some time and some forced creativity but the end result it well worth it. Not to mention the fact that a Walmart bought cake can be twenty-five dollars and mine cost me under $5! Good meaningful memories are one of the best gifts we can give our children!
This is the cake when I forgot but then remembered to take a before pic!
After frosted but before smoothed out.
Initials of the bride in her wedding color. I think I would have left the date off but wrote that first so had to leave it.
With the ribbon around it.
These are cute little Peep nests that I found in a magazine that I made. I just thought they were so cute so I had to put a pic on here! So easy!
